King James Version… Why You Should Use It!
Just a Thought:
We have had our King James Version of the Scriptures for 400 yrs., now. The King James Version, was translated from out of the Received Text (A.K.A. - Traditional Text and Byzantine Text.) This was the text that was accepted by the early church fathers.
These texts come from over “5300”” manuscripts. (5366 @ last count) and were used for over 1900 years. The oldest dates @ 60 A.D. & (110 to 125 A.D. - A copy of John)
All the other versions of the Bible come from only (2) manuscripts. (Vaticanus - 4th century from the Vatican Library around 1475) & (Sinaiticus - 4th century from a Monastery @ Mt Sinai around 1859. This one was found in a pile of paper trash.) The early church fathers in the 3rd & 4th century’s (300 - 400 A.D.) Labeled these versions as heresy!
Both of these manuscripts were used by (Brook Foss Westcott) and Fenton John Anthony Hort) in the 19th century and were the source reference manuscripts by which the English Revised Version and most of your modern versions (NIV, NRSV, NASV, etc…) originate from.
There are critics today that say that the KJV has been changed. It (The King James Version) has been through four revisions with printing corrections. The second printing in (1629) corrected typo errors. In (1638) they corrected spelling errors. In (1762 & 1769) they standardized spellings and changed old English letters to their present form. An example would be, words like “sonne” would be changed to “son” but “Ye, Thee, Thou,” etc, were retained.
Just to take a minute on this book that we have called the “Word of God”… God says that it is inspired.“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (II Timothy 3: 16-17)
That word inspiration means God Breathed. Just to explain inspiration a little further, “Inspiration is when God takes a blank piece of paper (papyrus, vellum, etc.) and uses men to write His Word.” “Preservation is when God takes those words already written and uses men to preserve them to today.” Both these actions are Divine and are assured by God as recorded in (Psalm 12: 6-7).
The original autographs were inspired. The King James Bible is those same autographs preserved up to today.” Theses are quotes from a book called, ” The Answer Book” by Dr, Samuel C. Gipp, Th.D.
Now, let me ask you this question? Do you think that Almighty God who inspired the writing of His Word, would not preserve His Word? He most assuredly did! So that you do not be confused by corrupted versions, you should have in your possession, an “Authorized King James” version of the bible. If you do not have a KJV Bible, please try to get one.
May God Bless you as you continue in your study of His Word!
